Group B (Men) officially kicks off with Japan defeating Malaysia 2:0.
At the beginning of the match, both teams remained in a stalemate for the first 34 minutes. Afterwards, team Japan opened offensive. Player No.18 passed the ball to No.11 which attempted to score, however, the ball hit the goal. But, No. 16 regained control of the ball for an easy shot which resulted in a goal for Team Japan. At the end of the first half, Japan launched another offensive, No.16 swiftly dodged two Malay defenders and scored. With two points ahead, it help boosted the Japanese morality which helped them secure their first win.
Tomorrow (on the 21st), Team Japan will be up playing against Team Canada. After the match, the Head Coach of Team Japan said, “ We are certainly aiming for gold, but we have to do it step by step, accumulate strength and secure a good record.”
Team Malaysia will be up against Team Uruguay on the 21st. This match is crucial for Malaysia because it will determine whether or not they will qualify for the next round.
